Abstract

Business process analysis (BPA) is a systematic approach to examining and evaluating an organization’s business processes. It involves identifying, documenting, and analysing the current processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement. The process typically includes steps such as initiation, planning, data collection, process mapping, analysis, and continuous improvement. BPA provides valuable insights into business operations, allowing organizations to make data-driven adjustments to optimize processes over time continually

Business process analysis involves a 4-step plan: identifying the process, collecting process information, analysing the current process, and developing a plan for improvement. It helps organizations understand how their processes are running and how they can be improved. The benefits of BPA include clear documentation of processes, robust data on process performance, and identification of obstacles causing delays, and better training for employees

The process of BPA is an iterative one, and it is essential for organizations of all sizes to regularly evaluate their processes and take steps for process improvement. BPA can be applied to various business processes such as new hire onboarding, purchase orders, travel requests, invoice approvals, expense approvals, audits and compliance, vendor management, accounting processes, appointment scheduling, attendance tracking, and sales orders

Business process analysis is a strategic necessity that allows organizations to increase efficiency by evaluating processes and finding ways to improve them. It is a rigorous and multi-phase analysis of every step in a process to understand the current scenarios and identify the scope for improvement
